Shaping the Way We Teach English 14

The Office of English Language Programs is pleased to offer our 14th webinar course entitled Shaping the Way We Teach English. The 6 online seminars of the course cover a variety of topics and are intended for teachers of English or future teachers of English around the world. Participants who attend 4 out of the 6 webinars will receive e-certificates. Participants are encouraged to join the associated Ning (http://www.shapingenglish.ning.com) to participate in discussions, view or download video and other materials from the sessions, and access recordings of the webinars.

The series will take place from September 10 to November 22, 2014. Each 90-minute webinar will be held every other Wednesday. For more information go here

Shaping the Way We Teach English Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with the University of Oregon

The long awaited Shaping the Way We Teach English Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with the University of Oregon is open for registration! This MOOC is designed for EFL educators, both those who are intending to pursue this field as a career and those already working in the field who would like to revise and refresh their methods and approaches. (Moreover, this course will help you master the American EFL terminology in Methodology and will help you in the future use it in your own articles).

Course on English Literature at Oxford University in May 2014

A proposed course on English Literature to be held at the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education, in conjunction with St Antony's College Russian and Eurasian Studies Centre in May 2014

(1) This course is intended for Russian teachers of English Literature.  They may be specialist teachers of literature OR teachers of language with serious literary interests – for example those who are trying to teach literature partly through the medium of our Contemporary English Novels. Participants must have good spoken English –and be willing to use it in discussions. 

 (2)Dates The Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE) can accommodate this course from Saturday 3rd May to Saturday 17th May. 

 (3) Cost of the academic course:  Teaching, use of libraries, specialist information, seminar materials, organisation and directing of the course: £400

    Cost of bed and breakfast accommodation in Oxford for 2 weeks: £260

    Cost of substantial midday meals, tea and coffee at Rewley House:   £150

    Cost of two excursions:  to London and to the Oxfordshire countryside  £90

    Cost of travel from Heathrow to Oxford and return £40

    Cost of  administration, including  completion certificate for each student. £20

    Total sum: £960.

 Not included: Visas; airfares; personal travel insurance;  local bus fares; evening meals (although you will receive some hospitality, and your evening meals on the excursion days will be covered, so this will probably mean about six or seven meals), personal expenses.

 (4)  Application dates.   We will not be deciding on which applicants to accept until 1st February, and there may be a place for later applicants if we do not already have 10 suitable ones.

 

 

 

Free online course "The Fundamentals of Language Assessment"

Want to learn more about assessment? The TESOL Arabia Testing SIG is putting together a free, two-and-a-half month long online course entitled "The Fundamentals of Language Assessment". The course has been specifically designed for classroom teachers with little or no knowledge about assessment or assessment issues. The workload will be approximately one to two hours per week, and those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate.

The course will be offered twice. The first course offering will begin at the end of January and finish in mid-April. The second course is expected to begin in early March and finish in May.

Сегодня начался конкурс программы Повышения педагогического мастерства - Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA). В нем могут принять участие учителя средних школ, преподающие математику, естественные и общественные науки и английский язык. Необходим пятилетний опыт преподавания в школе и владение английским языком. Победители поедут в США весной или осенью 2015 года и будут участвовать в семинарах по повышению квалификации в университете, а также пройдут двухнедельную стажировку в школе. Программы повышения квалификации в Ирландии


Дублинский городской университет предлагает программы повышения квалификации учителей и преподавателей английского языка в языковом центре университета. Программа существует в 3-х вариантах (для учителей начальной школы - 40 часов, для учителей средней школы - 40 часов, для преподавателей ВУЗов - 50 часов) и включает в себя языковую стажировку и методику преподавания английского.
